New Report Shows UAV Market to Grow to $8.3billion by 2018
By: Daniel JonesJune 11, 2013 10:04 AM
A new report published by the consultancy firm Markets and Markets has concluded that the size of the global market for the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is set to increase to over $8.3billion by 2018, at an estimated CAGR of 3.3%. The report focuses on the markets country-by-country, and also assesses the military, civil and security applications.

The year 2018 is also significant for the implementation of revisions to CAP-722, the Civil Aviation Authority detailing the safety requirements that must be met by Unmanned Aerial Systems, in terms of airworthiness and operational standards. CAP-722 will potentially unlock significant areas of airspace for the more extensive use of UAVs, especially for civil applications, so there is a large market opportunity for companies seeking to develop and operate UAVs within this timeframe. The new regulations are being driven by the expansion of the markets, as well as technological advances being made by researchers and developers.
The Markets and markets report can be bought online here.
